Barking Sands

hawaii 014

Barking Sands is the only name we know for probably, our favorite, beach. It’s only open on the weekends and you have to be willing to traverse major potholes in order to get to it, but it’s well worth it.

Barking Sands

IT hasn’t changed A BIT since we were first here about eight years ago.

(Including the treacherous thorny plant that finds my feet every time!)

These little kids sure have, though!

Hawaii

I’m guessing they were about seven, five and three here. Back when Jonas didn’t mind a tan, apparently.

The inland side is this Army Installation, and it is strictly off limits. Although, I heard some of Jurassic Park was filmed here. I can see it.

This is a nice beach if you’re looking to stay away from the crowds, which is pretty much tattooed on our backsides. We’ve bonfired out here, fired off homemade (by good friends, Larry and Sally) water bottle rockets, boogie boarded the waves, baked in the sand and snorkeled the reef. The only thing it doesn’t have is a shower, so you even get to take the sand home with you.

Hey, I was in Oahu at Ko Olina resort also! We stayed at the third lagoon in the building at the left! Did your husband have on the American Flag suit as well or just your boy? I thought I saw your husband when I was running. Too funny, it's a small world. I was the small, brown hair Italian with the "other" hair challenged man! My husband is tall. We left our four kids at home so we spent a lot of time in our room, if you know what I mean! However, after seeing your pictures I'm thinking we should have ventured out more! Oh well, next year! So, are you friends with the Norlings too? My heart is broken for their family. We are on our way to go drop off an Easter lilly and some chocolate for them at their house. I don't know what to do for them, I think there is nothing except to send lots of love. So, having said that we are off!

What a small world indeed! Too funny! No, my husband was not the older man in the flag trunks, but I do remember seeing him. I remember seeing a runner, and a couple bald men. The one that sticks in my head had wasn't bald on the rest of his body. :-0 Was that you guys walking along the path?

I'm not sure who the Norling's are??
